An ethnobotanic study of Selaginella lepidophylla (Hook. et Grev.) Spring, from San Jose Xicohtencatl, municipality of Huamantla, Tlaxcala, Mexico was carried out. The methodology used was to poll 100 inhabitants of the region. Out of the 100 inhabitant polled, 90 of them gave information about the plant, which is used for various urinary problems. Besides, in some cases, they mentioned that it was used to dissolve bile stones. The questions in the poll included data such as the person’s name, occupation, what is the plant used for, other common names known, how is it used, alone or combined with other plants, ways to prepare it and use it. Ten people said they did not know it. Such species is a new record from Tlaxcala state.
