This article discusses elements of the Brazilian domestic slave trade during the interval 1875-1880. We conducted this research through the analysis of 110 deeds that recorded the purchase-sale of 323 slaves in Araras, municipality belonging to the Zona da Baixa Paulista. The primary sources reveal the economic and demographic background of those trafficked into the town of Araras.
