The aim of this paper is to analyze the economic growth of Buenos Aires during the XVIII Century. Given the historiography tradition that the initial point were the 1776-1778 reforms, the purpose is prove that if this is correct or the institutional change only legitimize a previous situation. Having new long run price data, it is presented the evolution of some of the products of the Buenos Aires city in the XVIII century. The particular analyzes of the price of each product will allow us to observe the changes and the conditions of the Buenos Aires economy, and the demographic, trade and climate influence on the price of the local products; beside the effects of the Cabildo of Buenos Aires regulations.
