MUNOZ-SANCHEZ, Práxedes  y  CRUZ-BURGUETE, Jorge Luis. Identities and migratory tendencies from fishing in Chiapas and Tabasco. Convergencia [online]. 2013, vol.20, n.63, pp.231-257. ISSN 2448-5799.

We review the notions of migration of the people, their identities and trends from ethnography. From two fishing regions in southeastern Mexico: Arriaga, Chiapas, on the coast of Pacific Ocean; and La Barra de San Pedro, Tabasco, on the Gulf of Mexico, Arriaga's coast is located in a fishing area which is a transmigration zone toward the United States; Barra de San Pedro has been a recipient place for population from Veracruz since 1980, and it is currently active in handicraft fishery of average height sharing a marine space oil exploitation. As territories of fishing economy, we made visible realities, the migration and the trends in young people in fishing families, who with similar identities and regional differences, are reverting in the future of the fishing, the intentions of lasting this activity and its migratory needs.
