Abstract

LOPEZ DE AYALA-LOPEZ, María Cruz; MARTINEZ-PASTOR, Esther  and  VIZCAINO-LAORGA, Ricardo. Social Management of Telephone welfare needs services in Spain for teenagers and the elderly. Convergencia [online]. 2012, vol.19, n.60, pp.13-44. ISSN 2448-5799.

This research is a pioneer description and analysis of telephone welfare needs services in Spain for children and the elderly. The results show different level of services among different regions: non-existent, often this attention is subcontracted and in other occasions it is delegated explicitly in private non-profit entities. Furthermore, the study has brought to light some overlapping and lack of coverage, both in the services and in the time of attention that are offered by these telephones of public and private initiative. Finally, the telephone is stated as a consolidated suitable technology and of full force for the social attention to the elderly and children, for whom one of the main motives for resorting to these services constituted is loneliness.
