Nonviolent international interventions are increasingly used tools for conflict transformation and peacebuilding. This category is a product of the "new" approaches which give civil society a higher profile into the international policy agenda for conflict management. The current article will analyse the characteristics of this concept and the different forms it may take. Finally, it will show the wide variety of activities that nonviolent international interventions can develop according to the conflict management strategies designed in the United Nations system framework.
