The present paper aims to examine an ethnographic description of a traditional festivity, namely the representation of the 5 de Mayo Battle, in a Mexican community. Such a festivity is an event of a civic nature and takes place every single year in the location of Texcoco, a municipality of the State of Mexico. By considering Victor Turner's proposal along with a French Structuralism approach, the festivity was analyzed as a performance genre of social drama; which permitted the understanding of the event's significance.
