Max Weber wrote his first works between 1889 and 1898. Although the German sociologist's well-known works were written between 1903 and 1920, it is in the production of that first period where this article focuses in. We are particularly interested in responding the following query: which was the theoretical relationship of Weber with Marx -or with the historical materialism in this first period of his career- and how is it related with the political positions of both "clasics"?
