This paper analyzes the way in which those individuals who are unemployed get a new job, focusing on individual social capital. To this end, an ordered probit model of the employment probability for the 1995-2000 period is estimated. The results suggest that social cap ital is a relevant factor in order to increase the probability of a high-quality occupation. However, it is clear that the soiutton to unemployment and low-quality employment is extremely complex and involves other significant issues.
