The present essay discusses the scopes and the implications that the process of socioeconomic stratification of the homes, has in terms of the execution of political public and of the urban competitiveness. This essay does different approximations from the urban and social organization that con struct the same need of the classification; from the efficacy, the efficiency and the equity of the political public ones, and; from the same theoretical and statistical construction of the instrument of stratification. Likewise, it appears as the incorporation of elements that reflect a social complex and dynamical reality, to the interior of the models of stratification, helps enormously to diminish in efficiency and to obtain the aims that are persecuted with the stratification.
