Abstract

ISAZA ESPINOSA, Carolina. Institutional Design for Accountability: The Colombian Case. Gest. polít. pública [online]. 2015, vol.24, n.2, pp.339-375. ISSN 1405-1079.

Starting from the acknowledgement of the importance of accountability for contemporary public administrations, this article develops both conceptual approaches about accountability and a case study, that of Colombia. The objective of the article is to analyze the institutional design for accountability in the Colombian case, in order to identify its breaking points and make a valoration based on relevant stakeholders' perceptions in the public administration. The resulting panorama is more complex than the dichotomy on accountability deficit-overload would suggest.

Keywords : accountability; public institutions; public administration; State; Colombia.
