URIAS HORCASITAS, Beatriz. Luis Chico Goerne: A “Reactionary Modernist” Proposal During the Alemán Administration (1946-1952). Hist. graf [online]. 2017, n.48, pp.105-140. ISSN 1405-0927.
The Miguel Alemán presidency obtained support and legitimation from a group of right wing intellectuals who openly manifested their adhesion to the Hispanist current of thought and who spent periods of time in Weimar Germany. Luis Chico Goerne was an author and university official who was actively involved in the redefinition of the official ideology during the Postwar period. His writings reflect the mindset of ample sectors of the conservative middle class which was not partial to indigenismo and which aspired to modernize the country through education and technology while at the same time not abandoning a series of traditional values: the subsistence of the patriarchal family, the concept of a stratified society based on criollismo, and the reintroduction of the religious element in the conception of society.
