Abstract

VILLACANAS BERLANGA, José Luis. Explanation and Causality: Danto as Seen Through Weber. Hist. graf [online]. 2017, n.48, pp.61-101. ISSN 1405-0927.

The author offers a reading of Arthur C. Danto’s Analytical Philosophy of History. For him, Danto’s book relies heavily on its positivist context, and this prevents Danto from understanding history as anything but a scientific explanation that presupposes laws. This does not allow Danto to understand what is the most characteristic feature of history, that is, that it presupposes a theory in order to observe facts.

Keywords : Danto; Weber; analytics; causality.
