This essay has the purpose of explaining the narratologic treatment of the historical statements that Arthur Danto uses to resolve the dialectic of the representation. The hypothesis being that, to avoid the circularity of representation and to claim the positivity of the principle of circularity, Danto argued that it is necessary to analyze historical statements as narrative statements. The conclusion is that the solution to the problem of the dialectic of the representation depends on an analytical theorization of historical language.
