PADILLA CALDERON, Esther. Become ejido to regularize land tenure. The process of peasants in Los Ángeles, Sonora, 1921-1935. Hist. graf [online]. 2015, n.44, pp.217-244.  Epub 21-Nov-2019. ISSN 1405-0927.

In Los Ángeles, Sonora, the ejido lands are located near the river San Miguel. These lands were fenced and cleaned by men with carts that carried wood for the Compañía Industrial del Pacífico. They used to put the beasts and considered to be in possession of the land, both for having being there for a long time and made investments on the plots. Other peasants who used land owned by others also considered themselves tenant farmers. This is how the ejido topic came into existence in 1921. I expose the process of legalization of these lands in favor of tenant farmers. The work shows why the peasants accepted this offer from the Mexican corporative state in spite of their autonomous character. It also explains why they became part of a workers and peasants union organized by the state of Sonora, and how they came to be a memorable organization.
