A historian who critically follows conceptual history understands that it is impossible not to begin with the present. Conceptual history consists in hav ing consciousness about the horizon of thought that characterizes its source and the historicity of a modern concept. It also questions those concepts with which we think politics in our present, this is, the meanings that inhabit in every word that we use.
