Abstract

NAPOLI, Diana. Michel de Certeau: the history or the theatre of identity. Hist. graf [online]. 2013, n.40, pp.103-132. ISSN 1405-0927.

This essay studies Michel de Certeaus analysis of Freud's take on history. It shows how the writing of "a" history seeks the construction of an untenable identity. The past, always splintered from the present, returns as a spectre; history raises a simulacra of identity that responds to the issues of filiation and separation.

Keywords : Michel de Certeau; Freud; identity; writing of history; memory.
