The article examines the history of the Union of Peasant Federations of Mexico created in the context of the presidential election of 1952. The Union organizers adhered to the opposition presidential candidacy of Miguel Henríquez Guzmán and tried to mobilize henriquistas in the countryside. Their efforts met with the PRIista authoritarian control over campesinos which prevented the Union from becoming a permanent organization.
