Abstract

ZERMENO, Guillermo. Ordinary History is Quite Complex. Hist. graf [online]. 2011, n.36, pp.79-111. ISSN 1405-0927.

In this essay is revised the proposal of Sigried Kracauer concerning the nature and scope of history and its epistemological limits in contemporary society. Its originality lays in doing a critical balance of the thought of historians about their own practice until that moment (1960s). It takes into account the impact of the expansion of the mass media and the new forms of production and social organization, and particulary that of photography and the movies and their relation to historiography.

Keywords : Historiography; theory of History; Philosophy of History; Mass Media; Photography.
