LOPEZ ZAMUDIO, Jose; LEONHER RUEZGA, Karla L. y LEONER SOTO, Juan C.. Krukenberg Tumor: Colon Primary and Ovarian Bilateral. Case Report. Cir. gen [online]. 2014, vol.36, n.3, pp.165-167. ISSN 1405-0099.
Introduction: Krukenberg tumor has a low prevalence of 1-2%, with the most frequent localization of the primary tumor being in the stomach followed by the colon. This type of tumor is more frequent in women of the 4th decade of life.
Case Report: A case is presented on a 26 year-old female who began with menstrual disorders and subsequent growth of the abdomen. A tumor mass was identifi ed in both ovaries and in the colon using computed tomography. Surgery was performed, and the patient is currently receiving chemotherapy, with no evidence of tumor activity, but continues in follow-up.
Conclusions: These kinds of tumors, presenting bilaterally in the ovaries and colon of young women, are rare. An early diagnosis and treatment is important in order to increase survival.
