Resumen

We performed a historical review of the literature with clinical analysis, in order to be able to describe the surgical features of amputations of eight historical fi gures of our country from 1838 to 1945. We found data: Gral. Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, Gral. Manuel González, Gral. Alvaro Obregon, Mtra. Frida Kahlo, Mtro. Gerardo Murillo, Gral. Carlos Pacheco, Gral. Jose Lopez Uraga and Gral. Luis G. Osollo. Six of them from the trauma of war and two by vascular disease were the indication to resect. Anatomical and surgical techniques, dominance helped the historical characters in every age in our country, move on with life and develop their abilities to the historical characters, becoming three of them President of our country.
