GONZALEZ-SANTAROSA, María Graciela et al. Efficacy of Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) Vuillemin strains for control of Lygus lineolaris (Palisot de Beauvois) on strawberry. Rev. Chapingo Ser.Hortic [online]. 2010, vol.16, n.3, pp.189-193. ISSN 2007-4034.
Injuries of Lygus lineolaris nymphs on strawberry fruits, and the efficacy of two B. bassiana strains, L-BB (50 and 100 g·ha1) and Bbly-gus04 (100 and 200 g·ha-1), were evaluated against nymphs of this pest in a commercial strawberry plot. Treatments were compared with the efficacy of Endosulfan (1.5 litrosha-1) (standard insecticide), and an untreated control in a randomized complete block design with four replications. There were significant differences in the efficacy between treatments (P<0.0001). All treatments showed significant reduction nymph population compared with the untreated control. Although Beauveria bassiana treatments had a maximum efficacy of 47.2 %; none of the two strains tested provided satisfactory efficacy to reduce the population below the action threshold (0.25 nymphs by flower cluster). In contrast, Endosulfan provided enough control to keep the nymphs populations below the action threshold. B. bassiana applications improved yield and fruit quality, without surpassing that which was obtained with the standard insecticide.
