In a deteriorate building in the small town of Tacuba, in the second day of may of 1916, started the activities of the "Escuela Nacional de Química Industrial" founded by Juan Salvador Agraz. That was the first institution devoted to the teaching of industrial chemistry. This school was later transformed in the prestigious Facultad de Química of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, which this year celebrates its eighty fifth anniversary.
