Abstract

MESA, Ana María et al. Actividad antioxidante de Piper Piedecuestanum Trel. & Yunck. y Piper Subpedale Trel. & Yunck. Rev. latinoam. quím [online]. 2011, vol.39, n.3, pp.91-99. ISSN 0370-5943.

The present study aimed to investigate the antioxidant activity of extracts of hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate and methanol obtained from the leaves of Piper piedecuestanum TREL. & YUNCK. and Piper subpedale TREL. & YUNCK by different spectrophotometric methods: ABTS·+, DPPH, FRAP and ORAC in some selected samples. The most active Piper subpedale TREL. & YUNCK had the lowest rate evaluated by the techniques and power of the ethyl acetate extract was determined by the ORAC assay values presented Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC) = 2195.91 μmol Trolox / g of extract. The antioxidant activity measurements by different techniques, offer advantages in terms of predicting the in vitro antioxidant capacity of these two plants.

Keywords : Antioxidant; Piper piedecuestanum TREL. & YUNCK. y Piper subpedale TREL. & YUNCK; ABTS·+; FRAP; DPPH.
