FUENTES, Noé Arón. Las disparidades municipales en México: un estudio desde la óptica de la desigualdad. Prob. Des [online]. 2007, vol.38, n.150, pp.213-234. ISSN 0301-7036.
This study aims to analyze the movement of municipal disparities in per capita gross domestic product with a group of measures used to study the distribution of personal income, complementing this with the technique of quantile regression. From the analysis, we infer that the regional disparities increasingly characterize Mexico's economic, social and political agenda. Concerns about decentralization and economic growth leading to rigorously control over public sector social spending have led to a rise in the privatization of basic public services, a major conflict in the sub-national orbit and the intensification of regional disparities. The authentic advance towards a reduction in regional disparities demands the unity of federal, state and-municipal proposals. The minority federal government faces the decision of generating intergovernmental cooperation or more spatial balkanization.
