Abstract

KATO VIDAL, Enrique Leonardo. Difusión de tecnologías incorporadas en la economía mexicana mediante proveedores especializados. Prob. Des [online]. 2007, vol.38, n.149, pp.159-180. ISSN 0301-7036.

Specialist suppliers in Mexico are analyzed for the period 1990-2004. Conceptually, the technological sector is a source of innovation for an economy's industries. A crucial determinant of the changes in specialist suppliers is the strong presence of an external sector, due to imports of machinery and equipment, a high participation by maquiladoras in exports and low coverage from the technological balance ofpayments. Among these suppliers, we find different technological and productive patterns, profiles that are validated statistically. Items that stand out are the propensity to export and the technological effort, where it is found that only the industries with a low propensity to export have seen an increase in the proportion of their spending on technological transfer, with the coefficient of aggregate value to sales increasing.

Keywords : Pavitt's taxonomy; machinery and equipment; technological transfer; propensity to export; technological effort.
