BACKGROUND:

Leriche syndrome is a rare disease (less than 1%), caused by occlusion of the main branches of the abdominal aorta, below the exit of the renal arteries. It can originate from various causes and is not always diagnosed because not all patients have symptoms. Little information is available on its association with pregnancy.

CLINICAL CASE:

21-year-old patient with a history of nodular sclerosing Hodgkin's lymphoma, diagnosed in 2016, treated with chemotherapy and radiotherapy. During her follow-up, in 2018, she underwent a PET/CT scan with no evidence of tumor activity, but as a finding it was reported a stenosis of the aorta artery at the infrarenal level, greater than 95% of its lumen. The patient arrived at the hospital at 37 weeks of pregnancy. Since she had no symptoms or signs of hemodynamic involvement, induction of labor, instrumented, was decided.

CONCLUSIONS:

There is very little information on Leriche syndrome in pregnancy. Because of the cardiovascular physiologic changes characteristic of Leriche syndrome and the hemodynamic requirements during labor, more information is needed to determine the best route of termination of pregnancy.
