BACKGROUND:

The liver hemangiomas are vascular malformations and the most common benign tumors, the diagnosis is incidental from imaging studies, clinically they are asymptomatic. During pregnancy they do not represent a risk, however, with larger tumors, they have a greater risk of rupture and bleeding, so surgical intervention should be evaluated if they present them.

CLINICAL CASE:

A 36-year-old multiparous patient was admitted to prenatal care with a 21-week pregnancy and hepatomegaly 3 centimeters below the right costal ridge, asymptomatic patient. Imaging studies reported liver with hemangiomas, the largest measuring 10 x 7 x 8 cm; based on magnetic resonance imaging it was diagnosed as giant hepatic hemangiomas.

CONCLUSION:

Timely diagnosis, identification of risk factors, multidisciplinary treatment, and the support of laboratory studies allowed the diagnosis and completion of the pregnancy at term, by cesarean section.
