Abstract
CALLEJAS JIMENEZ, Mariana E.; SENTIES GRANADOS, Abel and DRECKMANN, Kurt M.. Benthic macroalgae of Puerto Real, Faro Santa Rosalía and Playa Preciosa, Campeche, Mexico, with some remarks on floristics and ecology for the State. Hidrobiológica [online]. 2005, vol.15, n.1, pp.89-95. ISSN 0188-8897.
This study adds 51 algal taxa (26 Rhodophyta, 19 Chlorophyta and 6 Phaeophyta), including 19 new records, and two new collecting sites (Faro Santa Rosalía y Playa Preciosa) to the coastal phycoflora of Campeche, Mexico. Using floristics information, we briefly discuss the possible affinities of coastal well documented collecting sites, with others (include some ad hoc. Islands), located in the Carolina Warm East Atlantic region, and the Mexican Caribbean. Cheney's index (R+C/P = 6.9) for the whole flora, suggests a general tropical ensemble, with a few temperate interchange. Estuarine flora components involve 113 taxa (33 Chlorophyta, 8 Phaeophyta, and 72 Rhodophyta); high Cheney's index (13.1) matches with those in other estuaries in the region and, together, are consequent with the characteristic isolation condition for those habitats. The flora for marine collecting sites known from Campeche (Isla Aguada, Sabancuy, Faro Santa Rosalía, Playa Preciosa, and Playa Bonita) involves 84 taxa (31 Chlorophyta, 7 Phaeophyta, and 46 Rhodophyta); Cheney's index (6.57), suggests a much more floristic affinity with Mexican Caribbean (47.7% shared species with Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo), than with temperate floras from the Carolina Warm East Atlantic region (just 18% shared species with Isla Verde, Veracruz).
