Abstract

PACHECO MENDEZ, Guadalupe. Changes in world order and in Europe’s regional orders, 1991-2016. Polít. cult. [online]. 2018, n.50, pp.55-81. ISSN 0188-7742.

Since 1991 a period of changes began in the world order and in Europe. The European Union tried to hegemonize the post-Soviet space, but its military capacity remained subordinated to the transatlantic military alliance; Russia adopted a revisionist strategy. The crisis of 2007-2008 altered the global economic balance due to the rise of China and the relative decline of the United States as a world leader. Furthermoren, it led to a period of instability characterized by antiglobalization movements and the arrival of Donald Trump to the presidency of the United States with an agenda that seeks to restore the US economy and a revisionist strategy in the world order.

Keywords : world order; regional order; grand strategy; revisionism; disengagement.
