Violence. Concepts and elements for its analysis. In this essay a double approach to the concept of violence is presented. The first approach is a reflection about the term by counterpointing two meanings: one it is only concerned with the use of force to cause damage, while the other one widen its meaning by considering it as a negation of the other person or group; the extents and limitations of each concept are described. In the second approach, some important elements for its study are presented; these consider the causes, characteristics, consequences and assessments of diverse forms of violence.
