Abstract

TELMAN SANCHEZ RAMIREZ, Pablo. La Federación Rusa y su entorno geopolítico en los nuevos arreglos mundiales de poder. Polít. cult. [online]. 2010, n.34, pp.159-185. ISSN 0188-7742.

Given the arrival of Vladimir Putin as head of the Russian government, the Russian State went through a gradual recovery of its position by taking a more active role with defined powers in the international scene. The Russian Federation maintains its standing position as an eminent power in modern international system due to crucial matters. Thus, in addition to the internal support the government enjoys, as well as the lack of organized opposition forces inside the territory, these provide the Russian State with a durable and strong constitution that contributes to the country's present condition. The current dialectic of the Russian foreign policy is based on the defense of its national interests but avoiding confrontation with the western countries, mainly the United States.

Keywords : national interest; security; energy; multipolarity.
