This article analyzes the way in which the female members of the social movement Frente de Pueblos en Defensa de la Tierra (FPDT) have experienced state violence. Through oral testimonies and field work into organizative spaces of the FPDT, we show how women's political participation has helped them overcome the experience of gender violence and political persecution, including sexual violation and torture.
