The article tries to prove that the emergency of memory seen like a cultural concern and political center of our contemporary societies is a world-wide phenomenon that crosses the diverse geographic spaces. The text outlines some explanations on why of this intense "memorialistic obsession", indicating, at the same time, some of its paradoxes. The article analyzes, also, how the opening of the relative memory to the recent past in some countries of Europe and some others of the South Cone takes place after the experience of the military dictatorships, to be centered next in the "battle of the memories" in Mexico, in relation to the subject of the political-armed movements, some of decades in these cases.
