This paper analyzes the transformations that were brought about by the implementation of the neoliberal model, which in turn affected both the welfare State of developed countries as well as the intervening State. In turn, in countries like México the latter created a public economic that fostered-by means of corporate support-the development of a market economy. However, the carrying out of the guidelines of neoliberalism involved the reconfiguration of the State and the setting up of a framework of financial rationality which has been restricting public functions and activities, particularly those related to social welfare.
