Abstract

GUZMAN GOMEZ, Elsa  and  LEON LOPEZ, Arturo. Multiactividad y migración campesina en el poniente de Morelos, México. Polít. cult. [online]. 2005, n.23, pp. 103-120. ISSN 0188-7742.

This paper studies mobility and migration among campesinos in western Morelos as part of the search for work they undertake, because of the farming crisis and the absence of local jobs, as complementary alternatives to local farming activities and regional employment options. The region has a plentiful labor supply, in that it has large cities and surrounding towns, good communications, services, and businesses that retain workers and allow family households to still prevail among the people. Migration is offered not as a sole response, but as a component in a multiactive and diversified strategy for reproduction.

Keywords : Labor multiactivity; migration; peasant reproduction; campesinos; western Morelos.
