Abstract

DIAZ DOMINGUEZ, Alejandro. ¿Influyen los ministros de culto sobre la intención de voto?. Perf. latinoam. [online]. 2006, vol.13, n.28, pp.33-57. ISSN 0188-7653.

The present article analyzes the religious factors that influenced the vote of Mexicans in the federal elections of2003, since it tests the generalized intuition about the influence that the priests and preachers allegedly have on the electoral behaviour of the citizens, showing that there is not a direct influence. Through the construction of a specific methodology it is demonstrated that no direct relation exists, when generally diverse studies utilize proxy variables for the analysis of the religious issues. Likewise, it is verified that the image generalized of the voters of the PAN as the conservatives in religious matter is false.

Keywords : elections; religion; priest; Church; catholic; protestant; clerical speech; vote; Mexico.
