Resumen
ARAIZA HERNANDEZ, Elizabeth. Behind one Performance There Is Always Another: How Different Modes of Performance Dialogue Amongst Themselves. Alteridades [online]. 2014, vol.24, n.48, pp.23-34. ISSN 2448-850X.
The author analyzes the event known as the pastorela (Christmas Pageant), which is performed in the Purepecha mountains of Michoacán. Significant Mexican theatrical and artistic works based on indigenous themes are also examined, centering on the creation of the devil in the first case, and the indigenous presence in the second. The figure of the Purepecha ch'ananskua serves as a means of observing how play and performance are articulated. The goal is to reflect on the usefulness, from an anthropological perspective, of the notion of performance as "the creation of presence", and the importance in performance studies of focusing on action, "things getting done", rather than products, "the thing already done".
