Abstract

PEREZ CAMPUZANO, Enrique. Urban-regional transformations and middle-class immigration from Mexico City to Querétaro. Alteridades [online]. 2007, vol.17, n.34, pp.93-104. ISSN 2448-850X.

In this paper, a study of immigration from MZMC (Metropolitan Zone of Mexico City) to Querétaro City is presented. Using a theoretical framework that intents to link economic and non-economic factors, it is shown the way in which these factors are important to the immigration decision. Labor markets are important to explain the immigration process; however, for middle classes, the expectancy of better quality of life: housing and prospective live expectations are equally important.

Keywords : middle classes; immigration; urban and regional restructuring; Metropolitan Zone of Mexico City; Metropolitan Zone of Querétaro.
