Abstract

CAHN, Peter S.. Direct selling in Morelia, Michoacán. Alteridades [online]. 2007, vol.17, n.33, pp.53-61. ISSN 2448-850X.

Direct selling refers to face-to-face commercial exchanges taking place away from fixed retail locations. More than fifty direct selling companies operate in Mexico. Omnilfe, a marketer of nutritional supplements, is one of the largest with more than three million distributors who recommend the products to their friends and relatives. Although the work of direct sales goes undetected, it has an effect on urban space. It extends the free market towards the most intimate of human relations.

Keywords : direct sales; nutritional supplements; Morelia; emotional labor.
