KNOWLTON, David C.. Miner’s blood: power context and corruption accusations within the Bolivian Mormonism. Alteridades [online]. 2006, vol.16, n.32, pp.69-80. ISSN 2448-850X.

This work analyzes a case in which several members of a Bolivian Mormon neighborhood rose up against their own leaders as a result of corruption issues and consequently one family was suspended from the church making clear the way in which power should operate within the Mormon religious system. It becomes evident how this fact depended upon the particular history of this area as well as upon previous events; for instance, octubre negro (black October) when they rose up against the president within a violent repression environment. In this way, it becomes clear that the international and universal Mormon system depends on local contexts in order to work or to be challenged.

Palavras-chave : Mormon; power; Santiago II; Bolivia; local.
