Abstract

MURO REYES, Alberto et al. Kinetics of ruminal in vitro degradation of fermented apple pomace and corn stover diet in sheep. Acta univ [online]. 2017, vol.27, n.2, pp.17-23. ISSN 2007-9621.  https://doi.org/10.15174/au.2017.1200.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the degradability of fermented apple pomace as protein concentrate in the rumen by measuring in vitro gas production of four diets based on corn stubble as fodder and mixtures of different proportions of fermented apple pomace and cottonseed meal in the concentrate. The degradability kinetics parameters showed a linear trend for A (p < 0.05). We conclude that fermented apple pomace, when combined with corn stubble in substitution of cottonseed meal, has a negative effect on fermentation patterns in terms of gas production from the diet, delaying the average time for gas production, and the production rate affects the ruminal degradability of feed in sheep.

Keywords : Fermented apple pomace; corn stover; degradability kinetics; sheep.
