SOTO, Alfredo y DELEPINE, David. Neutronic studies for the actinides incineration in a Gas-cooled Fast Reactor (GFR). Acta univ [online]. 2016, vol.26, n.1, pp.39-47. ISSN 2007-9621. https://doi.org/10.15174/au.2016.837.
Results of a simulation of a specific configuration of the Gas-cooled Fast Reactor (GFR) core for the actinides incineration of long lifetimes, thus reducing the radiotoxicity of nuclear waste are presented in this paper. From the neutronic point of view, a homogeneous nuclear reactor is analyzed, which is made up of reflector, fuel element and transuranic actinides from the discharge of pressurized water reactor (PWR). Using the computer code MCNPX-CINDER90, criticality calculations of reactor core and isotope concentration evolution were made for an irradiation period of 300 days. Results of five specific isotopes are presented.
