A productive socio-productive profile of people in 14 communities in Veracruz, Mexico, was characterized to identify their current status, local resources, management and identification of value chains through participatory forums. The main activity of communities is to growing coffee, wich they consider bad business, as such have developed a partnership with ornamental species to improve income. The age of the 56% of actors ranging between 50 to 90 years, have low educational level, not partner to the work, marketed through intermediaries and are considered in poverty. Female gender participation is 30%, there is no generational scheme in the transition for young people, 46% obtained the knowledge of local resource use from grandfather-father-son, 76.4% obtained seed from the own plots and considered viable generate new value networks.
