Abstract

MORENO ALCANTARA, Jaime; CHAVEZ TORRES, Rosa Hilda; COLIN CRUZ, Arturo  and  PAVON SILVA, Thelma Beatriz. Ethanol amine loss in the EA-H2O-air and EA H2O-O2 systems. Rev. Int. Contam. Ambient [online]. 2015, vol.31, n.3, pp.271-278. ISSN 0188-4999.

EA-H20-Air and EA H2O-O2 systems were evaluated in order to establish the contribution of air and O2 in the absence of CO2 in the loss of ethanolamine (EA) in an aqueous solution of 30 % for the CO2 capture process. Experiments were performed with air supply flows and O2 at room temperature for 16 h, every 2 h; pH, temperature and concentration of EA were recorded. EA loss in the EA-H20-air system occurred in the first two hours, being higher at low flows compared to high flows. With a flow of 11.27 mL/s was lost on average 10.5 %, whereas with a flow of 35.14 mL/s loss was 2.44 %. EA loss decreased as the air flow is increased, without depending on air supply times. EA loss in the EA-H20-02 system was not significant when oxygen was fed 16 h in the flows studied.

Keywords : CO2 capture; chemical absorption.
