Abstract

DIAZ GUTIERREZ, Carlos Eduardo; SEGOVIA DE LOS RIOS, José Armando; GARDUNO GAFFARE, Mayra Patricia  and  TEJEDA VEGA, Samuel. Gauging of water bodies by means of a teleoperated vehicle. Rev. Int. Contam. Ambient [online]. 2012, vol.28, n.1, pp.73-91. ISSN 0188-4999.

The availability and pollution of environmental resources is one of the main problems to which modern society faces. Water, the planet's most precious resource, is no stranger to this situation. Therefore The National Institute for Nuclear Research (ININ), perform operations of sampling and gauging of different natural water bodies in order to establish the degree of pollution that they have, as well as availability of water resources. In Mexico, performing the gauging of water bodies in natural channels is a very complex task, because people responsible for this activity must get in the body water risking its health and physical integrity. For these reasons, the gauging system SA-1 was designed and built. This is a teleoperated vehicle whose purpose is to avoid that the staff must enter to water body to perform the flow measurement. In this paper a description of this new system is given.

Keywords : gauging; water flow; water pollution; aquatic-platform.
