The hegemony of the service sector in the global economy has functionally and spatially modified innovation processes. And in the latter, knowledge-intensive services (KIS) are central links because their employees have high levels of qualification and skills. This article analyzes the spatial distribution of employment in CIS with high levels of schooling in the Metropolitan Area of Mexico City (AMCM). Methodologically, we distinguish the type of knowledge they develop (analytical, synthetic and symbolic) and use microdata to understand their educational structure and their levels of spatial concentration. Local spatial autocorrelation indexes (LISA) and nearest neighbor with hierarchical clustering are used in the analysis. The results indicate that slightly more than half of the CIS employment in the AMCM has high schooling, which is characterized by its concentration in clusters of different types of knowledge (multi-CIS clusters) located in a relatively dispersed manner in the metropolitan space.
