Abstract

GARZA MERODIO, Gustavo G.. Guerrero State: the story of a long term unarticulated territory. Invest. Geog [online]. 2009, n.68, pp.116-130. ISSN 2448-7279.

An unarticulated territory and a weak urban system have in the case of Guerrero State a deep historical root: since it was not one of the colonial intendencias and has lacked a long standing political and economical nucleus. Also, must be taken into account the role assigned to Southern Mexico, after the late 19th century, within international and national markets; since then, the accomplished territorial structure has been mostly modeled by economical and political individuals, acting in different scales and defining the way communications and transports were introduced in the state.

Keywords : Territorial articulation; technological innovation; urban-regional system; Guerrero state.
