DIAZ HERNANDEZ, Blanca M.; PLASCENCIA VARGAS, Héctor; ARTEAGA RAMIREZ, Ramón y VAZQUEZ PENA, Mario A.. Estudio y zonificación agroclimáticos en la región Los Altos de Chiapas, México. Invest. Geog [online]. 2000, n.42, pp.7-27. ISSN 2448-7279.
Based on the available meteorological records for Los Altos de Chiapas and surrounding stations, some of the most important agroclimatic indicators were characterized a zonification of the study area based on the duration of the growing season is proposed. Results indicate the existence of a Southeast-Northwest gradient with a duration between 150 and 300 days; such variation results from the combined effect of altitudinal differences and the direction of the main humid winds. For each zone, the characteristic temperature and precipitation values are provided, as well as information on seasonality. Accordingly, climatic conditions are analyzed in relation to the requirements of some important crops in the region.
