The socioeconomic situation of the Carboniferous Zone, Coahuila, Mexico, is examined through the analysis of four lines, regional economy, human resources, social structure of the population interceding different indicators, in order to get to a classification, wich let us define pivotals areas and associative areas and their relationship with the mine activity decay, wich some years before was the pillar of the economy of the zone, all these has influenced in die process of the transformation of the population.
